ALEXANDRA BUTCHER: SUCCESS IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT

Alexandra Butcher a.k.a. A.L. Butcher released earlier in 2014 the second part of The Light Beyond the Storm Chronicles – The Shining Citadel. The British author writes fantasy, loves astronomy, history, animals, films and gaming. We’ve got a chance to speak with Lady Butcher for the products of her creativity and her great blog.

alexandra

– Alexandra, what is your last novel The Shining Citadel about?
The Shining Citadel is the second in the Light Beyond the Storm Chronicles fantasy series. It follows the main characters, an elven sorceress Dii and Lord Archos as they seek out at first a missing elven artefact and later discover the lost Citadel. The world of Erana is a dangerous place; magic is illegal, punishable by death and elves are little better than slaves so an elven sorceress seeking out a lost elven city is a very dangerous proposition. There’s a lot of intrigue in the story, for the adventurers are not the only ones interested in the Citadel and what it might bring and not all their companions are what they seem. Truth are lies are turned on their heads, right and wrong are not clearly defined and at least one character has an epiphany. This is an exciting tale of heroes, monsters, forbidden magic, love, and betrayal.

– Jennifer, Your book Yellow Star is an incredible story. When was the first time you decide to put the memories of your aunt Sylvia in a book?
– For over fifty years, my Aunt Sylvia did not speak about her childhood in the Lodz ghetto in Poland during World War II. When she finally told her whole story for the first time, it was to me. I took notes and thought it was such an amazing story of family and survival, I turned it into a book.

ROBIN MURARKA: I DON’T REALLY HAVE ANY WRITING HABITS

Robin Murarka was born in Canada, but currently resides in Sydney, Australia. Our next guest published his first novel Akin in the summer. The cover of the book is really attractive. If you want to know more about the inner part don’t waste any time, and take a look in the following interview.

Robin-Murarka-Portrait

– What is your debut book Akin about?
Akin revolves around a young man who awakens in his small, desert village to voices he both fears and is attracted to. Due to the strongly cultural and religious environment he is surrounded by, his behavior is met with hostility, and he is soon launched on an adventure in this archaic world, witnessing both incredible beauty and a deafening brutality. The novel is epic in its grandeur, and contains no fantasy or supernatural elements despite bridging that elusive gap between a fable and the real world.

MR GRAHAM: I COLLECT BOOKS, HATS AND BLADED WEAPONS

Year ago MR Graham released the first part of Liminality series – The Medium. It’s a story about vampires and wizards. Our next guest published a total of five books. All of them are with very high rating in amazon – one of the most sure proofs of quality.

mr

– What is your book The Medium about?

The Medium is a somewhat non-standard paranormal novel. The good guy is not a hero, and the bad guy is not exactly what he seems.
Lenny is a defective vampire. Shy, insecure, and literally unable to kill, he tries very hard to avoid notice until the night he is kidnapped and imprisoned by Sebastian, a psychopath bent on turning him into what a vampire should be. The situation is only made worse by Lenny’s dual nature: he is also a medium, a creature born for the sole purpose of aiding the dead, and Sebastian is definitely a dead thing in need of help. His only hope is Kim, a practical young wizard tasked with hunting Sebastian down, but her ancient and powerful family is not nearly as accepting as she. Trapped by Sebastian’s mind control and by his own pathological need to heal his captor, Lenny quickly realizes just how easy it would be to slide into evil, himself.

HELEN RAPPAPORT: MY NEXT BOOK IS ‘CAUGHT IN THE REVOLUTION: PETROGRAD 1917’

Award winning author Helen Rappaport’s last book The Romanov Sisters was selected by Goodreads members as the best non-fiction for 2014. The New York Times best-selling writer is one of the top researchers of the Russian history. We’ve got a great chance to make an interview with her around the holidays. Enjoy!

Helen_Rappaport_new_author_photo_2014

– What was the most touching moment around Olga, Tatiana, Maria, and Anastasia that inspired you to write The Romanov Sisters?
– There wasn’t a single touching moment that inspired me, but I was very taken by the girls’ extraordinary composure and stoicism during their long months in captivity and the ways in which they tried to keep everyone’s spirits up. I wrote the book because I felt the girls had been neglected and because I felt we knew so little about their real personalities. I wanted to give them back their identities as four very different and fascinating young women.

Kathy_Headshot

– What is Amanda’s Eyes about?
– Crime reporter Amanda “A.J.” Gregson comes to in a hospital with a broken arm, a colorful assortment of abrasions and contusions, and a face swathed in bandages. But she can’t remember what hit her.
The bad and the ugly are A.J.’s business, but learning she had a ringside seat for an explosion that vaporized two federal agents, incinerated an entire block of warehouses, and peppered her eyes with so much shrapnel they had to be surgically removed? Well, that gives the darker side of life a whole new meaning.
When her memory floods back in brutal detail the night before transplant surgery, A.J. remembers the architects of her personal disaster, a lethal band of killers-for-hire known as Ferrymen.

JULIE FREED: MY HOME WAS LEVELED BY HURRICANE KATRINA

The Hurricane Katrina changed many lives. The hell’s opening during August 2005 will be remembered as the most brutal natural disaster ever produced by Atlantic Ocean. Almost 2000 people died. The damages were counted to a monstrous number of $108 billion.
Julie Freed witnessed the nightmare. With her debut memoir Naked she shared the personal level of destruction that was caused by Hurricane Katrina. The readers gave huge appreciation to the book with average 4.9 stars in Amazon from 77 reviews.

julie

– What is your memoir Naked about?
Naked is a true story of parallel tragedies. What happens when a mother loses everything to Hurricane Katrina? What if her husband never returns? Surrounded by the rubble of life – I was stripped bare by love and loss.
Naked is raw and touching – a story of motherhood, choices, marriage, addictions, family love, redemption, and survival. I describe the incredible event that was Hurricane Katrina and is the context of the majority of the memoir. Most people just watched the episodes unfold on the news but my story takes the reader there, on the ground to grapple with all that I saw, felt, smelled, touched, and suffered. Even though I was stripped, left naked on the slab of what was my house holding my one year daughter – I was never alone, and we are never alone! I hope my story gives readers hope that when faced with extreme unthinkable situations there is a well of strength deep within that can quench our thirst and propel us forward.
