MARTIN CROSBIE: THE STORY OF THE DEAD LIST ACTUALLY HAPPENED
Martin Crosbie made his dream-come-true in self-publishing. His efforts and success were covered by Amazon’s press release, Publisher’s weekly, Forbes Online and Mail newspaper. The author’s debut novel My Temporary Life was downloaded 150 000 times. On November 10 he released his latest book The Dead List.
Our next guest was born in Scotland, but now lives in Canada. It’s a great pleasure to introduce Martin Crosbie.
– Martin, what is your book The Dead List about?
– It’s so difficult to talk about The Dead List without giving away key plot elements, but I’ll try. It’s a story of a rookie policeman who is stationed in a small Canadian town. He has a past that doesn’t fit with an inexperienced officer. When he is called out to investigate a dead body lying in the street he knows the man has been murdered. But, he can’t reveal how he knows. And from there, the plot thickens.

In the recent years children’s books aren’t so popular among the movie producers of animations. After putting on the big screen some of the all time best classics, the industry decided to bet on scripts, that are specially created to become a film. Well, we’ve got one nice exception.

Viveca Sten is one of the most popular writers in Europe and especially in her home country Sweden. Her Sandhamn Murder series have been adapted into TV series. Lucky for English language fans of crime mystery, the first novel Still Waters will have an official worldwide premiere on October 1. The book already made her way to Kindle Amazon Top 10 Bestselling list. It’s a great honor to present at Land of Books our next guest Lady Viveca Sten.
– Viveca, what is your next book Still Waters about?
– It’s a hot July morning on the island of Sandhamn in the Stockholm archipelago when a man walking his dog makes a gruesome discovery: the body of a man, tangled in fishing net, has washed ashore.
Police detective Thomas Andreasson from the mainland is the first to arrive at the scene. The man is soon identified as a Krister Berggren: a bachelor who has been missing since Easter. Nothing indicates foul play until a woman is found brutally murdered at the local bed-and-breakfast. It turns out she is Krister Berggren’s cousin.
Luckily Thomas’s childhood friend, lawyer Nora Linde who lives in Sandhamn comes to his aid. Together they take on the seemingly impossible riddle while at the same time trying to make sense of their troubled personal lives.

American author Nicholas Sparks is champion of writing books, which later turn out to be big movie hits. Nine of his novels were already adapted and all of them generate nice money for the producers. The jubilee 10th book that will become a film is The Longest Ride.

The Soviet Union, times of Joseph Stalin and Andrei Chikatilo. Are you feeling scary? You must be, because of the novel Child 44 by Tom Rob Smith. The story will put a lot of tension to your nerves.
The book was published in 2008. It is the first part of Leo Demidov trilogy. The sequels The Secret Speech (2009) and Agent 6 (2011) followed the success of the Child 44.

The story is inspired by real events. Andrew Knight was very interested in his wife’s family history. Her grandfather was water diviner, a very rare and well respected profession in Australia.
