Kathy Shuker’s debut book Deep Water, Thin Ice was published earlier this year. The novel received very high feedback with average 4.5 stars reviews in Amazon. Our next guest is a promising indie author. Let’s hear from her more about the book.

– What is your debut book Deep Water, Thin Ice about?
– It’s about Alex, a thirty-eight year old classical soprano, whose husband, Simon – a well-known conductor, throws himself under an underground train in London. She’s shocked, confused and grief-stricken, unable to work. Remembering an old house in southwest England which her husband had inherited, she escapes there to lick her wounds. Her new home, once a fine manor house, is crumbling from neglect and Alex sets out to restore it. Then Theo turns up at her door, offering to help, saying he’s Simon’s cousin; Alex didn’t know Simon had a cousin. But there’s a lot she doesn’t know: about the family, about the house, and about Theo. Theo is remarkably like Simon and Alex welcomes him into her life. How long will it be before she realises she’s making a fatal mistake?

RYAN QUINN: I TREAT WRITING THE SAME WAY I TREAT RUNNING
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
Ryan Quinn’s second book End of Secrets became a big hit three weeks before its official release. The novel made a Top 10 move to Kindle Amazon Bestselling list and even spent some moments as number 1. Our next guest will be a real nice guest for every journalistic article. We’ve got a chance to speak with one future star in writing.

– Ryan, welcome to the blog. What is your next book End of Secrets about?
– I’ve always found this to be one of the hardest questions for an author to answer, simply because after hundreds of hours spent developing, thinking about, writing, and revising a novel, I’m just way too close to it. I pretty much get tongue-tied when I try to boil it down to a sentence or two.
But this question is, in fact, a totally reasonable one! So I’ll say this: On its surface, End of Secrets is a thriller that takes place in the very present-day world of cyberespionage, big data, and surveillance. Specifically, it’s about a covert agent, Kera Mersal, who has no idea what she’s getting into when she’s assigned to investigate the mysterious disappearances of several popular artists. I hope there’s a few extra layers of depth buried beneath the superficial “thriller” label, but I’ll leave that up to readers to discover and judge for themselves.

LORI SCHAFER: DEALING WITH EMOTIONS IS THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
Lori Schafer’s memoir On Hearing of My Mother’s Death Six Years After It Happened is a very deep and brutal book. When I read the answers in the interview it was like something scary passed through my body. The author earned my respect for the bravery to tell such a personal things. Are you ready for some real deal life story?

– Lori, What is your book On Hearing of My Mother’s Death Six Years After It Happened about?
– On Hearing of My Mother’s Death: A Daughter’s Memoir of Mental Illness commemorates my adolescent experience of my mother’s psychosis. I was sixteen when it happened, and I watched helplessly as she became violent and dangerous, to the point where I literally feared for my life. Her fears and delusions grew so powerful that for a time she took me out of our house, and even out of school. After several botched attempts at escape, I finally succeeded in running away from home just a week after graduation, only to find myself facing months of homelessness and hunger – and the ever-present fear of her finding me again.

AMAZON TOP 10 BESTSELLERS: OCTOBER 2014
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
Bestseller is a book or other product that sells in very large numbers
This is the Oxford dictionary’s definition for one of the most used words in publishing business.
I’ve got an idea to present the ranks of the most popular novels in Amazon, via their kindle classification. Every first day of the month a resume of Top 10 books for the previous one will be posted on my blog.
As you know the Amazon’s system of ranking is kept in secret just like Coca-Cola’s formula. I will try to solve the secret, so will take a Top 10 from each week during the month and to make a classification from these 4 weeks.
