– The White Prisoner: Galabin Boevski’s Secret Story is a typical non-fiction sports book. It’s based on the events around the arrest of Galabin Boevski, the famous weightlifter, who was caught with huge amount of cocaine in his suitcases at Sao Paolo airport in 2011. He received 9 years plus sentence and started to serve it in Brazilian prison.
Surprisingly, one day he landed in Sofia airport after been served just two years of his jail time. Nobody believed how he was able to get out of prison. Many versions were put on the news stream not only in Bulgaria, but around the world.

BRIAN YANSKY: THE WRITING ENRICHES MY LIFE

Brian Yansky’s new book Utopia, Iowa is set to be released in February. We’ve got a chance to take a brief look into the novel. It’s time for our next interview.

brian

– Brian, What is your next book Utopia, Iowa about?
Utopia, Iowa, is a place where the people are strange and there are stranger things than people. It’s fantastical realism (a possibly made up term to indicate that it has both fantasy and realistic elements—I like both). My main character, Jack, sees ghosts—like many people in his family—but is also a somewhat typical teen with girl and family problems and a big dream—he wants to write for the movies. When two girls are murdered and both dead girls come to him for help finding their killer (remember– sees dead people), things get a bit, well, strange. He becomes a suspect in their murders and must solve them to keep from going to prison.

– It’s about Alex, a thirty-eight year old classical soprano, whose husband, Simon – a well-known conductor, throws himself under an underground train in London. She’s shocked, confused and grief-stricken, unable to work. Remembering an old house in southwest England which her husband had inherited, she escapes there to lick her wounds. Her new home, once a fine manor house, is crumbling from neglect and Alex sets out to restore it. Then Theo turns up at her door, offering to help, saying he’s Simon’s cousin; Alex didn’t know Simon had a cousin. But there’s a lot she doesn’t know: about the family, about the house, and about Theo. Theo is remarkably like Simon and Alex welcomes him into her life. How long will it be before she realises she’s making a fatal mistake?

IT’S TIME FOR SOME HEAVYWEIGHT BOXING

Today is one of the most important moments of Bulgarian boxing history. Heavyweight Kubrat Pulev (20-0, 11 KO) will challenge the current champion Wladimir Klitschko (62-3, 52 KO). The fight will take place at sold out “O2 World” in Hamburg.

P1150560
I will be honored to be a commentator of the fight for Bulgarian Nova TV. It’s probably the biggest opportunity of my career as TV announcer. After 10-years of calling the action for different televisions as Eurosport Bulgaria, Nova Sport, Diema, TV+, Film + and TV 7 now I will be a witness of something special.

We know each other with Kubrat Pulev since a long time. I took the first interview he ever gave back in 2001 for the newspaper I worked for – Monitor. He developed as a fine boxer, made great amateur and professional career, and is ready to become a world champion.
P1150552

Kubrat will give everything to dethrone one of the greatest heavyweight boxers in the history of the sport. Let’s wish him a good luck.
