BARBARA TAYLOR SISSEL: THE IDEA OF CROOKED LITTLE LIES CAME FROM AN EXPERIENCE
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
Barbara Taylor Sissel’s latest novel Crooked Little Lies will be released on August 1. The book was selected as part of Kindle First program and already gathered big steam.
With 260 plus reviews with average 4.0 Amazon stars the story starts its literary journey by the best possible way. The interest towards Crooked Little Lies puts the novel in Amazon Top 10 for the last three weeks. We’ve got a great chance to speak with Barbara.
Once again huge thanks to our good friend from Lake Union Publishing Dennelle Catlett.
– Barbara, Tell us about your new book, Crooked Little Lies. What is it about?
– Lauren Wilder is a wife and mother, and a businesswoman, who is accustomed to thinking of herself as ordinary, capable and reliable, until an accidental fall leaves her in a fragile state both physically and mentally. Now in recovery her every move is suspect; her every word is looked on with mistrust. Never more so than when she’s implicated in the disappearance of a young man, Bo Laughlin, with whom she had only the briefest of encounters. At least that’s how she remembers it. But the police have doubts, and as the search for Bo ensues, and the police hammer her with questions regarding her involvement, Lauren becomes terrified, not of what she remembers but of what she doesn’t.
With nowhere to turn, she begins her own investigation into the mystery of Bo’s disappearance, and immediately uncovers what seems to be a web of deceit, one that’s shared by her family and friends. But is her perception of events as they unfold real or a twisted projection of her damaged mind? The question CROOKED LITTLE LIES asks is this: What would you do if almost overnight the life you loved and depended on was taken from you and you were left with no one you could trust, not even yourself.

CAROLYN BROWN: MY GRANDKIDS READ MY BOOKS
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
NY Times and USA Today bestselling author Carolyn Brown published her latest novel The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop few days ago. The initial response by the readers was very nice and averaged 4.4 Amazon stars from 20 reviews. “Great read”, “Another hit for Carolyn Brown” and “This is sure to be one of Carolyn Brown’s most memorable books,” are just part of the feedback about it.
We’ve got a great chance to chat with Lady Carolyn right after the premiere of next prominent story. It’s a really interesting interview, one of the best ever at Land of Books!
– Carolyn, what is your new book The Yellow Rose Beauty Shop about?
– Stella’s mama never should’ve put Stella on the church prayer list. With Stella’s twenty-seventh birthday coming up fast, Nancy desperately wants to see her daughter married and giving her grandbabies. Petitioning heaven seems like a surefire way to get it done. But in Cadillac, Texas, where the gossip’s hotter than the city’s famous jalapeño peppers, it isn’t long before all hell breaks loose.
Heather, the bossy leader of the church’s Prayer Angels, thinks a summer ball will get Stella and the town’s other single gals paired off. But nobody can tell redheaded spitfire Stella what to do—not her mama, not Heather, and not even the sexy beau Stella’s been seeing in secret. Together, Stella, her best friends Charlotte and Piper, and the loyal customers of the Yellow Rose Beauty Shop hatch a good old-fashioned scheme to sabotage the ball. But will it wreck Stella’s relationship with her mama forever? And what will the church folk think when Stella reveals the identity of her mystery man?

KRISTEN ASHLEY: I GET OBSESSED WITH THE BOOK I’M WRITING
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
Kristen Ashley released the third part of Chaos series – Ride Steady on June 30. The novel immediately rocked the charts and earned huge appreciation by the readers. Less than three weeks after the premiere the novel gathered 500 plus Amazon reviews with stunning average rating of 4.8 stars!
It’s a great pleasure to welcome as our next guest at Land of Books Kristen Ashley.
– Kristen, would you describe with your own words what the readers will find in your latest release Ride Steady?
– Ride Steady is the next in my Chaos series after Own the Wind and Fire Inside. The series is based on a motorcycle club (MC) in Denver. The Chaos MC was introduced in my Dream Man series, their president, Kane “Tack” Allen having his story told in Motorcycle Man which means Chaos is a spin-off. This is mostly because I have trouble saying goodbye to my characters so I find ways to stay in touch with them. Like spinning off books!
Ride Steady is the story of Carson “Joker” Steele and Carissa Teodoro. They went to High School together but were essentially (and regrettably) ships that passed in the night.
Joker did not grow up in a happy home (to say the least). His mother left him as an infant and his father physically and emotionally abused him. Carissa, on the other hand, had a loving family but one that was hit with a fair amount of tragedy.
The book gives us a peek at that…then takes us years in the future when Carissa’s life has taken a significant turn for the worse but Joker has found family in the Chaos MC. Carissa’s stranded on the side of the road with a flat tire and Joker stops to help. He recognizes her. There is something about him that tugs at her memory, but he’s much changed so she doesn’t recognize him.
That’s their new beginning…and away we go!

ANN CHARLES: I WANTED TO MIX DEADWOOD’S HISTORY WITH FICTION
Posted by Ognian Georgiev
The award-winning author Ann Charles shined with her Deadwood series. The next part of the adventures Meanwhile, Back in Deadwood will be published on July 31. We are using the occasion to meet with our next guest and to dig a little bit into the origin of her inspiration.
Let’s say welcome to Lady Ann Charles.
– What is your next book Meanwhile, back in Deadwood about?
– Meanwhile, Back in Deadwood … the mystery and mayhem continue. Between the butchered body parts, creepy killers, dogged detectives, ghoulish ghosts, and ever-present TV cameras, Violet Parker’s purple boots are itching to skedaddle.
But there is no escaping another murder investigation or her new deadly reputation. Not even if both risk the lives of those she loves most.
I’d tell you more, but I don’t want to give away any of the story or the mystery around which this book centers. I will tell you, though, that the mystery involves Ol’ Man Harvey’s ranch this time.
