ROY DIMOND: I DID AN ENORMOUS RESEARCH FOR SILENCE AND CIRCUMSTANCES

Roy Dimond’s next book Silence and Circumstances was published on March 23. The novel is featuring the famous crime writer Agatha Christie and her disappearing. It’s a pleasure once again to welcome our friend Roy Dimond. If you didn’t read his previous interview with him, you may correct right away the omission. But first check it out what he has to say for the fresh release.

Roy at Machu Piccu

– Roy, what will the readers find inside, Silence and Circumstances?
– First please allow me to say thank you again for interviewing me. It is great to talk with you again. Silence and Circumstance is the fictional account of the real life event in 1926 when Agatha Christie went missing. For 11 days all of England searched for the most famous mystery writer in the world. Sixteen thousand police searched, while planes scoured the countryside, and barges dredged canals, in fear of finding her lifeless body. It was quite likely the most famous story of the decade and virtually every person in England was asked to scour their backyards. Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and Dorothy Sayers also joined in the search. Rumours spread that Mrs. Christie had run away from a bad marriage, had a nervous breakdown, was kidnapped or worse, and even that her disappearance was a publicity stunt.
I have chosen to write a fictional account from the perspective of her governess, Charlotte Fisher, describing what may have happened. Clues guide the characters on a journey that includes the Orient Express, Istanbul, and the Blue Train while many of the rich and famous of the English elite join in trying to answer one question. Where is Agatha Christie?

CAROL ERVIN: THE GIRL ON THE MOUNTAIN CAME ALIVE AS I STUDIED PHOTOS OF LOGGERS

Carol Ervin is a dream-come-true self-publishing author. Her novel The Girl on the Mountain found its place at Kindle Amazon Top 20 ranks. The story was very well received by the readers with average 4.6 Amazon stars. Two more books from Mountain Women series followed. We’ve got a great chance to borrow some time from our next guest.

carol

– Carol, what was your feeling when you saw The Girl on the Mountain in the top 20 of Kindle Amazon bestselling list?
– My author friends emailed about the bestseller list before I saw it, so my first feeling was gratitude that they cared enough to be following. When I saw the numbers, I didn’t scream or leap for joy, but for several hours my husband and I had fun watching the numbers, and I kept busy returning emails and commenting with friends in a Facebook thread. On the surface, I felt calm, but I slept only a few hours that night and the next.

RACHEL HOLLIS: SWEET GIRL IS MUCH MORE OF A LOVE STORY THAN PARTY GIRL

Rachel Hollis was a party organizer of VIP events in LA, and is an author for many well known entertainment magazines and internet sites. Her first book Party Girl is a real hit with average 4.5 Amazon stars from 250 reviews. The sequel Sweet girl will be released on May 5 and is already available for order. Thanks to Eryn Kalavski we are welcoming Rachael Hollis at Land of Books for our next cute interview.

rachel

– Rachel, your next book Sweet Girl is set for release in May. What the readers will find inside?
– I think what I’m most nervous/excited about is that they won’t find a character that’s at all like Landon from Party Girl. Max is a much more damaged character and while she’s pursuing her childhood dream she’s much harder on herself than Landon was. Also, Sweet Girl is much more of a love story than the first book. Landon needed to grow on her own, what Max needs most is to allow someone to love her.

KATI HIEKKAPELTO: THE HUMMINGBIRD IS ABOUT RACISM, IMMIGRATION AND HONOR

Kati Hiekkapelto showed her talent in the last few years. She became a famous writer in her home country of Finland. Her novel The Hummingbird was released on English by Arcadia Books on December 23 2014. As you know Land of Books loves to present foreign language authors, so we are sure you will learn a lot more about Kati after you read the following lines.

kati_profile

– Kati, Give us some insight about The Hummingbird?
– Young girl is found dead from the remote jogging path with an Aztec amulet in her pocket, shot by a shotgun, straight to head. At the same time another young girl, Kurdish, calls 911 because she is afraid that her dad is going to kill her.
Anna Fekete starts a new job as a crime investigator after being several years in uniform. The beginning is not easy for her. The cases, she has investigate, are hard, she has to face racist and misogynist attitudes from her colleagues, especially her partner Esko Niemi is a difficult and nasty person. Anna´s past begins to haunt her. She suffers from severe sleeping problems and panic attacks. When more bodies with amulets in their pockets are found, it seems obvious that there is a serial killer out there.
For me The Hummingbird is a book about racism, immigration and honor related violence. For readers I wanted it to be an exciting crime story with strong characters where you can find, if you want, deeper layers and something more to think about than just “who is the murderer”.
